Membership Meeting
F-86 Sabre Pilots Association
31 March, 2009

President Jerry Johnson called the meeting to order at 1106 AM.

Treasure, Richard Geiger presented the Association financial Report. About $15,000.00 Was written off in 2008 to reduce the size of the write off this year when we close the store. The assets of the association will remain at approximately $200,000.00 by the close of the reunion. Even with the loss of aging members and the effect of the life membership dues structure, the financial future looks good.

Larry Davis, Editor of the Sabre Jet Classics discussed the reasons for the recent minor problems with incomplete magazine content and delivery. The severe cold in Ohio caused the printing machinery to malfunction and the Post Office failed to deliver in a reasonable time because of internal policy changes they failed to pass on to the customers. Larry extended his thanks and appreciation to members for their contributions to military and our country. Members are encouraged to offer items of interest to the Sabre Jet Classics. They are much appreciated. Larry explained the confusion of aircraft assigned to units and because of "Project Arrow" the unit's designation was changed and the aircraft stayed in the newly designated unit. He requested individuals provide any pictures that would be helpful.

Glen Carus reported that space is still available on the panels at the Smithsonian Museum at the Dulles Airport. He requested bios from those whose names are on the panels if they have not previously submitted them. Contact Glen Carus for forms. Jerry Johnson implored all members to get their names on the panels. Glen later said 70 members requested information.

President Johnson expressed his thanks to the 338 attending the 2009 Reunion, an outstanding number based on our 1500 membership. Jerry feels the Sabre Jet Classics is the life blood of the Association, and extended appreciation to Larry Davis for all his good work. He also implored all members, who have computers, to check out our web site SABRE-PILOTS.ORG. Bill Weiger is Web Master and does an outstanding job. Jerry discussed the reunion cost and why we need to subsidize some events. The Association is able to spend money on the reunions because of our low operating cost.

Only the Sabre Jet Classics printer and data processing are paid employees. Everyone else is a non paid volunteer. He explained the need to close the Flight Line Store. The stock remaining will be given to charities. Some members offered other suggestions about what should what to do with the unsold clothing. When it was stated the unsold shirts and jackets were 3XL or X Small they withdrew their recommendation. Jerry thanked Jack Seaman for all his good work in running the store.

Jerry expressed his thanks for contributions and support of Lt Gen. Dan Druen to the Association over the years and wished he and Audree well. J. R. Alley was nominated for President and Jerry Johnson for Vice president. John Martin was nominated for Treasure. All were elected by the members.

Pat Hughes will be Chairman 0f the Board. Directors are: Glenn Carus, Sam Hollenbeck, Robert Matasick and Alonzo Walter. The meeting was adjourned at 1140 AM.
